Science
Our school vision states: “We nurture curious minds and challenge individuals to achieve ambitious goals beyond what they believe is possible.”
At Hackthorn C of E Primary School we aim to provide a high-quality, exciting science curriculum providing children with the foundations for understanding the world through the specific areas of biology, chemistry and physics. Science is an important part of our everyday lives and so we teach both knowledge and enquiry skills, allowing the children regular opportunities to undertake practical science activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
By increasing the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world around them we foster respect and develop their natural curiosity, encouraging them to question and evaluate what they have seen.
During the year, we celebrate National Science Week, we go on school trips and we regularly invite people into school to talk to the children. Recently, we have been welcoming in our KS2 parents to share their STEM professions, thereby allowing the children to begin to set themselves those ambitious goals.
