Hackthorn Church Of England Primary School

A small school with a BIG heart.

Geography

At Hackthorn CofE Primary our geography curriculum is carefully planned from the Early Years through to Year 6, building a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and understanding as children progress through the school. We are passionate about helping children make sense of the world around them—locally, nationally, and globally.

From exploring their immediate surroundings in the Early Years to investigating global issues by the end of Key Stage 2, our pupils learn about a wide range of topics including physical and human geography, weather, climate, sustainability, and natural disasters. A key focus throughout is learning about people, places, and communities—both near and far—and understanding the similarities and differences that make our world so rich and diverse.

Our enthusiastic and skilled staff deliver each theme with creativity and purpose, encouraging children to think critically, ask questions, and develop a deep respect for the planet and the people who share it.

By learning about different communities and how humans interact with their environments, our children grow into informed, compassionate, and responsible global citizens. They leave us with a greater awareness of their place in the world and a sense of responsibility for its future.
